Donations
How are families selected by Creators of Hope?
The selection process involves community leaders who partner with us to nominate local recipients based on their needs. From that point, COH conducts a needs assessment to determine priority. Our goal is to help as many people as possible, but we also recognize that some have more urgent needs than others.
If you know of anyone you feel could benefit from being added to our ever-growing list of potential recipients, you can submit an application here.
How long have you been working in Treasure Beach?
We have been working in Treasure Beach since 2019. Before then, our work was in Porus from 2015 until 2018.
If I want to contribute but can’t attend the trip, how can I donate?
Can we donate materials?
We currently do not accept donations of materials due to the complicated international logistics and high costs. All donations go towards the funding of our build projects. Even a $20 donation can cover the cost of a box of nails!
We’re currently working towards providing a sample list for generous donors, like you, who wish to provide material support with a monetary contribution. Stay tuned!

Do I need to have knowledge construction to participate?
Absolutely not! Your desire to participate and give back is all that is needed. On each trip and job site, everyone plays an important role in getting the job done — whether it’s ensuring batteries get charged, tools are cleaned and organized, or
Who can participate?
Anyone with the desire to be a creator of change and help those in need!
What's the weather like?
Who buys the materials?
Materials are purchased through local suppliers, which allows our teams to have the necessary materials on-site and we are contributing to the local economy. An important part of what we do is creating sustainable methods of completing our build projects, which means every donation can be attributed to building costs.
For example, $20 USD is equivalent to one door knob!
Who pays the travel costs?
Travel costs, at this time, are not included in the price to participate in our builds. Therefore, each participant is responsible for paying the travel costs to arrive in Jamaica. Upon arrival in Jamaica, the costs for transport to and from the airport and accommodations are included in the build price.
At the moment, our teams fly into Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay as this is the most efficient arrival point.
What's included?
The Build Price for each individual includes:
- Transportation in and out of the airport, plus around the community and to excursions.
- Food, drinks, snacks, and meals at our accommodations.
- Accommodations for 1 person.
- Experience and excursion costs (such as transportation, entry and booking fees).
- Materials and tools.
- Water and food on-site.
What type of attire should I wear?
Given the warm Caribbean climate and time of year, shorts or light pants and a t-shirt or tank top are the recommended attire. However, each individual is different and requires adequate consideration for personal needs. Some people are more comfortable wearing more or less clothing to cover up from the sunshine such as hats or long-sleeved shirts. We recommend a pair of comfortable training or running shoes as the minimum standard.
However, proper work boots will provide increased comfort and protection while on the job site. That being said, it isn’t mandatory as we are aware not everyone has a pair of steel-toed boots or needs to have them. The most important considerations when picking what to wear are comfort and safety.
What are the conditions of the job site?
The job sites are at variable locations both in terms of distance and remoteness. Some job sites are in open fields with very little shade, whereas others are in dense areas with a lot of plants. Mosquitoes, bees, and other insects are not uncommon similar to what someone would experience in the U.S., Europe, or Canada.
The sites are typically on a piece of land that is adjacent to existing homes, with limited access to washroom facilities. It is important to remember that a top priority is to ensure that we are safe and respectful to all, especially our recipients within the community. This is why we strive to maintain clean and organized conditions on our job sites, avoiding any potential accidents.
